Biography:

I completed my PhD at the University of York in 2024, and have been based there since as a Lecturer in Linguistics. My work focuses on how language is used to communicate in terms of both identity (individual and group) and discourse-pragmatic meaning. I am particularly interested in forensic applications of phonetics, the ability of phonetic features to contribute to the detection of deepfake audio, and interdisciplinary research focused on language and identity.
