This project is a direct result of the White Rose Crucible Seed Fund, an initiative designed to help future research leaders build on interdisciplinary connections and explore innovative ideas across Yorkshire. By bringing together competitively selected researchers from Leeds, Sheffield, and York, the Crucible Programme fosters long-term collaboration and creative thinking to tackle complex global challenges.

What does a stroke survivor regaining speech have in common with a power grid surviving a thermal overload or a community rebuilding after a disaster? They are all functional networks responding to stress.

Through this Crucible-funded collaboration, this project brings together researchers from across a range of disciplines to tackle a foundational question: What makes a network resilient to damage, and how can we improve that resilience before and after disruption?

Explore how performance, component state, and adaptive reorganisation shape real-world resilience beyond simple connectivity metrics and help us build a cross-domain framework for the future.

This upcoming workshop for those interested in network science, engineering, disaster recovery, and beyond.

Hear from three guest speakers in cognitive neuroscience, battery engineering and economic geography and partake in interdisciplinary discussions relevant across the sciences and humanities.

Join to explore how we can better measure, model, and design resilience into complex networks.
