The British Academy Early Career Researcher Network (ECRN) Yorkshire & Humber cluster was established in 2025 as part of the Academy’s nationwide rollout of support for early career researchers in the humanities, arts and social sciences (SHAPE).

The network brings together early career researchers from across the region to build connections, develop skills, and access opportunities that support their research and career development. As one of the final clusters to launch, it completes a UK-wide initiative designed to provide tailored support and foster collaboration across disciplines and institutions.

The Yorkshire & Humber cluster is led by the University of York on behalf of the White Rose University Consortium (University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, and University of York), working in partnership with York St John University and a growing group of regional institutions.

White Rose plays a central coordinating role in the development and delivery of the network across the region, bringing partners together, shaping the programme of activity, and ensuring that early career researchers benefit from a connected, collaborative regional community.

Visit the network website to learn more, explore opportunities, and find out how to get involved.

The White Rose University Consortium actively engages with institutional, regional and national partners to propel positive change and create sustained impact for individuals, communities, and the region.
