The University of Sheffield has unveiled its new Research Culture Action Plan, following approval by its University Executive Board. The plan aims to enhance the university’s research environment over the next 3-5 years by fostering an inclusive and supportive culture for researchers, technicians, and professional staff.
Since 2021, funding from Research England has supported innovative approaches to open research, equality, diversity, and inclusion and career development. The action plan, informed by extensive surveys and consultations, focuses on three priorities: enabling professional fulfilment, rigorous, open and responsible research, and creating opportunities for collaboration, creativity and innovation.
The plan is a dynamic document, regularly reviewed by the Research Culture Steering Board, established in 2021, which reports to the Senate Research and Innovation Committee. This initiative underscores Sheffield University’s commitment to fostering a collegiate, open and collaborative research ecosystem.
