Women are affected globally by disparities in access to health care and employment, political and professional representation, social freedoms, legal and economic rights. In addition to these forms of discrimination, women and girls experience high rates of physical abuse and sexual violence. Members of the College wish to address these long-standing problems in a collegial research environment that explores global gender equality challenges across a non-binary spectrum. The three universities have come together to remove barriers of isolation when tackling these sensitive subjects and create a community ‘open for business’ to feed into research undertaken by colleagues in other disciplines requiring crucial input in gender equality within their own work. Together we can better promote conversation, design positive action, and feed into international research on gender equality for the benefit of individuals and society.
