Take part: Empowering Established Researchers project

Further information

We are inviting established researchers across the White Rose partner universities to participate in this important project.

Your involvement will help shape resources that directly address the challenges and opportunities you or others like you may face in an academic career.

What is the project? Why is it important?

Whilst there’s plenty of support for new researchers and senior academics, those in the middle often find themselves navigating career challenges without targeted guidance.

We are developing online resources, toolkits, and learning materials specifically designed to address the career challenges of established researchers.

Are you an established researcher?

We’re inviting established researchers from White Rose universities (typically Senior Lecturer, Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, or Associate Professor) who have not yet reached Professorial status to participate in this project. This generally includes those at Grade 7-8 (York) or Grade 8-9 (Leeds and Sheffield).

Your insights will help shape learning resources that directly address the real-world challenges and opportunities of your career stage.

What do we want to know?

What’s already out there? What works well for someone at your career stage? What doesn’t work as well? What’s missing? What challenges do you face that aren’t being addressed? What would help?

How can you get involved?

Online individual interviews
One-to-one conversations about your experiences and needs. Flexible scheduling to work around your commitments.

Online focus groups
Small group discussions with fellow researchers. Share ideas and build on each other’s insights.

Online priority-setting exercise
A quick and efficient way to influence the project direction to help us decide which resources to develop first.
