The White Rose Crucible consists of three residential sessions known as “Labs.” These labs feature a blend of invited speakers, facilitated sessions, and ample time for collaboration. 

Lab 1 – Looking outwards covers: 

• What role does academic research play in society?
• How and why should we engage ‘the public’?
• What is the relationship between the media and research?
• How does the interface between researchers, policy and government work?
• How can my work have a social and/or economic impact?

The programme aims to build a cohort of open-minded academics motivated to collaborate with colleagues from Leeds, Sheffield, and York across various disciplines. It is designed to foster organic project development by bringing together individuals from diverse fields.
