CARDINAL Network

CArDiNAL is a new initiative to pilot a clinical-doctoral network to support the development of clinical academic pathways for Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals in the Yorkshire region. Hosted by the NIHR CLAHRC Yorkshire and Humber, there are 5 participating universities and 6 National Health Trusts who are working together to run 8 new Clinical-Doctoral Fellowships (CDF).

The new Fellows spend their time shared between academic study at their awarding university and clinical practice at their home Trust. Time is spent working together as a cohort, with  shared training, student led development, face to face meetings and peer support. The CLAHRC is working to provide an excellent environment for learning whilst also co-ordinating the governance structure to ensure the smooth operation of CArDiNAL.

The institutions involved include the White Rose Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York, plus the University of Huddersfield and University of Bradford and the NHS Trusts are Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, Leeds Teaching Hospital, Leeds and York Partnership York Teaching Hospital,  South West Yorkshire Partnership and Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
