Enjoy an inspiring programme of in-person and online events at York Festival of Ideas 2022.

Taking place from 11 to 24 June under the banner of ‘The Next Chapter’, the award-winning Festival offers over 150 FREE events to educate, entertain and inspire, including talks from world-class speakers, exhibitions, music, guided walks and family-friendly activities.

With topics ranging from archaeology to art, history to health, and politics to psychology, the Festival promises something for all ages and interests.

This year’s programme includes a plethora of renowned speakers and performers including Oscar-winning film editor Joe Walker; best-selling historian Alison Weir; writer and former politician Michael Ignatieff; physicist and broadcaster Jim Al-Khalili; actress Dame Harriet Walter – who will appear in I, Clara, together with the concert’s creator, pianist Lucy Parham; acclaimed author Michael Morpurgo, and many others.

The programme also features a number of themed events examining some of today’s most pressing issues – Shaping Society: Challenges and opportunitiesCosmic Harmonies: Celebrating William Herschel’s life and legacy; and War and Peace: Threats to global security.
