Gender Equality College Launches

The White Rose Gender Equality College has launched.

The new College aims to provide researchers working on research applications access to those with expertise in gender studies and gender equality challenges. Currently in its pilot phase, the initiative spans across the universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York and will work across the breadth of subject areas.

Initially the College is focusing on ODA compliant research supported through programmes such as the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) and the Newton Fund. Gender Equality is being considered nationally along the project life course from the project proposal stage through to monitoring and reporting. Feedback suggests this can be daunting for those rooted within technical subjects and we wanted to connect teams with those who can make a valuable input. If you are developing a research project that is focused on the Global South, please explore the College web pages as soon as feasible and get in contact to see how your team and project can benefit.

Key features:

  • You will be introduced to a relevant college member. It is then up to both parties, how you would like to develop the professional relationship if that means just a one off meeting over coffee or integration within the project team. However, the ethos of the College is to embed gender equality in applications and the research itself and so we anticipate that these outcomes are more likely to emerge from an integrated collaborative approach.
  • Feedback will be requested about how useful you found the interactions.
