2017 is the 30th anniversary of the founding of ACT UP, the international advocacy group fighting to end the AIDS crisis. To coincide with this anniversary, a one-day conference will be held at the University of York on June 1st and 2nd, 2017 which will bring together academics from a variety of disciplines to reflect upon what has changed, and what has not, in the past thirty years.
The conference will be preceded by a screening of “United in Anger: A History of ACT UP,” followed by a conversation with director Jim Hubbard and Dr. Monica Pearl.
During the event, a selection of interviews from the ACT UP Oral History Project will be on display
